The award winning garden are appreciated by all those who visit. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and a strong understanding of landscape maintenance. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated person who has a RHS/NVQ level 2 in Horticulture. This role involves nurturing and maintaining gardens, ensuring that all plants thrive while creating aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces. The Gardener will work with various tools and equipment to perform groundskeeping tasks effectively.
Job Purpose
To maintain the Gardens of Remembrance and grounds to the very highest level.
Main Duties
To maintain the grounds for the Garden of Remembrance and grounds; upkeep of lawns, borders, memorial beds, ornamental features, hedging and trees.
To drive the company vehicles as necessary
Undertake all relevant and compulsory training.
To undertake all duties and interactions with employees, partner providers and customers fairly, without unlawful discrimination and with due regard to the Board's Diversity and Equality in Employment and Service Delivery policies.
Utilise hand tools and power tools for various gardening tasks, ensuring they are used safely and effectively.
Assist in the design and implementation of new planting schemes.
Maintain garden equipment and tools in good working condition.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure the overall upkeep of the landscape.
Experience
Proven experience in groundskeeping or gardening is essential
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems.
Knowledge of plant species, growth patterns, and landscape maintenance techniques.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
A valid driving licence (manual vehicles) for transporting equipment or materials.
