Carry out all aspects of practical amenity horticulture to the highest standards as required by the Grounds Maintenance Specification and Clients.
Use a high level of gardening skills to meet horticultural standards, including grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and clearing leaves and litter.
Plant bedding plants, trees, and shrubs, and maintain shrub beds through pruning and division.
Apply chemicals as necessary for maintenance tasks.
Maintain, set out, and mark sports facilities.
Engage in general soft landscaping works, such as top-soiling, cultivation, seeding, and shrub bed renewal.
Operate and ensure all vehicles, plant, and machinery are kept in good working order, complying with Health and Safety at Work Act and Road Traffic Regulations.
Report any defects in tools and equipment to the line manager.
Take reasonable care of your own and others' safety, cooperating with managers/supervisors in complying with statutory health & safety duties, and report incidents, accidents, and faults.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
NVQ stage 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent) or a minimum of two years' proven practical experience in Grounds Maintenance work.
Possession of a current, full, UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
Possess a spraying certificate.
Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge of mechanical plant/equipment and its maintenance, or willingness to undertake training.
Knowledge of plant identification and disorders.
Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Regulations.
Experience in all practical aspects of horticulture, including grass cutting and general horticultural machinery.
Experience in soft landscaping work.
Experience using mowing equipment and small plant, such as pedestrian mowers and strimmers.
