Job Summary:

The Gardener/Labourer/Cleaner is responsible for maintaining outdoor spaces, gardens, and job sites by performing both gardening and general labour tasks. This includes planting, pruning, landscaping, as well as cleaning and maintaining cleanliness at construction sites, residential properties, and commercial buildings. The role involves ensuring that the environment is safe, tidy, and presentable.

Key Responsibilities:

Garden Maintenance:

Plant, weed, and maintain flower beds, shrubs, and trees. Mow lawns, trim hedges, and prune plants for healthy growth. Water plants and apply fertilizers or pesticides as required. Remove dead plants and manage composting areas.

Landscaping Assistance:

Assist in the design and implementation of landscaping projects. Lay turf, plant new trees or shrubs, and build garden features (e.g., fences, paths). Operate and maintain garden machinery and tools, including lawnmowers and trimmers.

General Labour Duties:

Assist with the loading and unloading of materials and equipment at various sites. Move and organize tools, materials, and supplies as needed. Clear debris, leaves, rubble, and hazardous materials from gardens, outdoor areas, and construction sites. Dig, rake, and prepare soil for planting, and assist with the construction of patios, walls, and other landscape structures. Support construction teams with tasks such as lifting, carrying, and assembling materials.

Cleaning Duties:

Sweep, mop, and clean floors, stairways, and outdoor surfaces to ensure safety and cleanliness. Clean and maintain restrooms, break areas, windows, and common spaces. Remove trash and dispose of waste in an environmentally responsible manner. Conduct deep cleaning in post-construction environments.

Site Maintenance:

Ensure the site remains hazard-free, clutter-free, and well-organized. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order. Clean and maintain garden furniture, outdoor fixtures, and other assets. Report any damage, repair needs, or potential hazards to the supervisor.

Health and Safety Compliance:

Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure all work is compliant with safety and environmental regulations. Participate in safety briefings and training as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

Experience in gardening, landscaping, general labour, or cleaning roles preferred. Ability to operate garden machinery, use basic hand tools, and perform heavy lifting. Knowledge of plants, trees, and cleaning practices is beneficial. Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment. Physical fitness and stamina to handle strenuous tasks outdoors and indoors in various weather conditions. Strong communication skills, reliability, and a proactive work ethic. Knowledge of health and safety standards in labour and cleaning environments.

Education and Experience:

No formal education required, but experience in gardening, landscaping, or general labour and cleaning roles is preferred. Familiarity with health and safety procedures for labour and cleaning work is an advantage.

Working Conditions:

This role involves working both outdoors and indoors in various weather conditions. Heavy lifting, physical labour, and the use of machinery are required. Flexible hours may be necessary, including early starts and potential overtime depending on the project and season. Driving Licence (required)
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.21-13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
