We're looking for an experienced and motivated Repairs Team Leader (Gas) to lead our in-house gas team and deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality repairs and maintenance for our residents. What's the role?
As part of our Repairs and Maintenance team, you'll be responsible for managing and supporting a team of gas engineers to deliver an excellent and compliant gas repairs, servicing, and maintenance service across our homes. You'll ensure that our residents receive timely, professional, and high-quality service, while maintaining full compliance with gas safety regulations.
In this role you will need to:
Lead and motivate a team of skilled gas engineers to achieve performance and quality targets.
Oversee day-to-day operations including responsive repairs, servicing, and gas safety checks.
Ensure compliance with all relevant gas legislation and Watford Community Housing's policies.
Carry out audits on completed Landlord Gas Safety Records (LGSR) and conduct regular audits on engineers to ensure work quality and compliance.
Manage and monitor equipment calibration to maintain safety and accuracy.
Work closely with the Planning and Compliance Teams to ensure efficient scheduling and adherence to legal and policy requirements.
Ensure all engineers' qualifications and training records are current and up to date.
Manage the organisation's Gas Safe registration and associated administrative responsibilities.
Manage workloads and resources effectively to meet KPIs and service standards.
Monitor and review team performance, providing coaching and support where needed.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and resident-focused service delivery.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone with a strong background in gas engineering who has the leadership skills and drive to manage a team effectively. You'll combine technical knowledge with great communication and problem-solving abilities, ensuring a high-quality service for our residents.
Essential:
Qualified Gas Engineer with current ACS certification (CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1 as a minimum).
Proven experience supervising or leading a team of gas engineers or operatives.
Strong understanding of gas safety regulations and compliance requirements.
Experience delivering responsive repairs, maintenance, and servicing in occupied properties.
Experience conducting audits and managing LGSR compliance.
Ability to oversee calibration of gas equipment and maintain accurate compliance records.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
Good IT skills and experience using maintenance management or scheduling systems.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle suitable for business use.
Willingness to maintain a satisfactory basic DBS check.
Desirable:
Experience working within the social housing or property maintenance sector.
Understanding of renewable heating technologies (e.g. heat pumps)
Knowledge of other areas of property compliance (electrical, legionella, asbestos).
Any other relevant qualifications such as: Level 4 Certificate in Gas Safety in Social Housing, CIH, ILM, NVQ level 3 in Management etc.
