Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our dietetic team at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a 0.7 WTE Band 6 Specialist Gastroenterology Dietitian. The successful candidate will be part of the Gastroenterology Dietetic team and be involved in delivering specialist outpatient services to our patients. You will join our gastroenterology dietetics team, which provides a service to adult gastroenterology inpatients and outpatients at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team of 6 gastroenterology dietitians and a dietetic support worker.



This is an outpatient role, providing a specialist dietetic service for patients with a range of gastrointestinal conditions including IBS, coeliac disease, liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease. You will be involved in delivering face to face, telephone and virtual appointments as well as group education sessions. This post also includes regular attendance at MDT meetings.



In addition to clinical duties, the post holder will have the opportunity to support the development of staff and students through supervision, actively contribute to service improvement and audit initiatives, and participate in the development and implementation of innovative working practices.



Team working, excellent communication skills and an ability to work under own initiative are essential.

The postholder will:



As part of the Ashford and St Peter's Dietetic Department, provide a high quality nutrition and dietetic service to patients, carers and staff at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals.



As a practitioner with a high degree of autonomy, take responsibility for managing and providing the majority of the services required and planning this effectively



To support with colleagues with supervision as required



To take an active role within the general functioning of the Dietetic Department, including contributing to student training.



To communicate and collaborate with team members, other HCPs and partner organisations to support service improvements
