Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Gate Engineer to install, service, maintain, and repair automated and manual gate systems. The successful candidate will work on residential, commercial, and industrial sites, ensuring all gate systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant UK safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Install automated and manual gate systems (sliding, swing, cantilever, barriers, bollards). Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on mechanical, electrical, and automation components. Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance. Install and test safety devices such as photocells, safety edges, loops, and intercoms. Ensure all installations meet current safety regulations (including Machine Directive and BS EN standards). Complete risk assessments and commissioning documentation. Liaise professionally with customers on-site and provide technical advice where required. Maintain accurate job records and service reports. Adhere to company health and safety procedures at all times.
Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Gate Engineer or similar role. Strong knowledge of gate automation systems and control panels. Basic electrical knowledge (230V / 24V systems). Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical drawings. Competent in fault-finding and problem-solving. Full UK driving licence. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications (but not essential)

Gate Safe Aware or equivalent qualification. DHF (Door & Hardware Federation) training. CSCS card. NVQ or City & Guilds in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. Experience with intercom and access control systems.
