We are seeking a knowledgeable and reliable Maths tutor who can teach both KS3 (Years 7-9) and GCSE (Years 10-11) students. The ideal candidate will have strong mathematical understanding, excellent communication skills, and experience working with learners across different ability ranges.
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, structured lessons for KS3 and GCSE Maths, following National Curriculum and exam board requirements.
Teach small groups of up to 4 students, providing personalised guidance and targeted support.
Use company-provided, pre-planned lesson resources, adapting them where appropriate for student needs.
Support students with exam preparation, topic breakdowns, reasoning skills, and past paper strategies.
Complete simple weekly lesson logs, assessments, and progress notes in line with company policies.
Maintain a positive and focused learning environment with strong behaviour management.
Identify gaps in understanding and implement strategies to help students improve their confidence and performance.
Requirements
Essential:
Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or another numerically-focused field (Can also be working towards a degree)
Strong knowledge of KS3 and GCSE Maths content (Higher and Foundation tiers).
Experience teaching or tutoring Maths at KS3 and/or GCSE level.
Ability to explain concepts clearly and simplify complex methods for different learners.
Professionalism, reliability, excellent punctuality, and strong communication skills.
Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain and cover the cost).
Desirable:
Teaching qualification (PGCE/PGDE/QTS) or currently training toward one.
Experience preparing students for GCSE exams and mock assessments.
Understanding of common misconceptions and exam board marking criteria.
Experience working in a tuition centre or teaching small groups.
