Lets Make Change provides bespoke, high-quality educational and therapeutic packages to learners who are not currently accessing mainstream education. Many of our children and young people face barriers to learning related to

SEND, SEMH needs, trauma, anxiety, or disrupted education

We specialise in re-engaging learners through personalised 1-1 sessions that build confidence, develop essential academic skills, and support meaningful progress at a pace tailored to the individual.

Role Purpose



We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled

Maths Tutor

to deliver 1-1 tuition to learners within their home or local community. You will support learners working toward

Functional Skills Mathematics

or

GCSE Maths

qualifications, using adaptable teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learning needs.

Key Responsibilities



Plan and deliver

1-1 Maths tutoring sessions

, personalised to the learner's ability, goals, and additional needs. Deliver teaching aligned to

Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level to Level 2)

and/or

GCSE Mathematics

. Assess learner progress and produce clear, accurate reports when required. Use differentiated and creative teaching methods to engage learners who may have

SEND, SEMH barriers, or gaps in prior learning

. Work collaboratively with families, schools, carers, and local authorities to ensure continuity and progress. Provide a safe, supportive learning environment within the home or community. Uphold

safeguarding

, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and LMC policies at all times.

Experience & Requirements



Essential:



Experience teaching or tutoring

Functional Skills Maths

and/or

GCSE Maths

. Experience supporting young people with

SEND or SEMH needs

, or those disengaged from education. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently, plan effectively, and manage your own workload.

Desirable:



Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification. Experience in alternative provision, youth work, SEN settings, or 1-1 tutoring environments. Understanding of trauma-informed practice and strategies for supporting neurodiverse learners. An

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

is preferred, however LMC can support the successful candidate in obtaining one if needed.
