Overview


To maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors by carrying out cleaning, laundry, and kitchen duties to a high standard of hygiene and efficiency in line with the care home's policies and procedures. This job role has been created to cover the other ancillary staffs holidays throughout the year therefore will not have a set weekly rota and will include all duties listed above. Your rota will be available in advance of every 4 weeks and will be no less than the 28 hours stated. The job role does include weekend working. Under 21's will be paid at the minimum wage of 10 per hour.

Key Responsibilities



1. Cleaning Duties

Clean all designated areas including residents' rooms, bathrooms, lounges, corridors, offices, and communal spaces according to daily and weekly schedules. Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed in line with infection control and health and safety standards. Use cleaning products and equipment safely and correctly, reporting any defects or maintenance issues promptly. Dispose of waste appropriately, including clinical and recycling waste. Refill soap, sanitizer, and paper towel dispensers as required. Assist in maintaining high presentation standards throughout the home .
2. Laundry Duties

Collect, wash, dry, iron, and return residents' personal clothing and home linen promptly and neatly. Follow correct laundry sorting and washing procedures, including infection control protocols. Check clothing labels and handle delicate or special care items appropriately. Keep laundry areas clean, tidy, and well organized. Report damaged items or equipment faults immediately. Maintain an accurate record of laundry completed when required.
3. Kitchen and Catering support

Assist with basic food preparation tasks as directed by the cook or kitchen supervisor. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment to maintain hygiene standards. Clean kitchen surfaces, floor, and storage areas regularly. Assist with serving meals, setting and cleaning dining areas, and ensuring residents are supported with a positive mealtime experience. Adhere to food hygiene and safety regulations at all times. Check and record fridge/freezer temperatures and report any irregularities.
4. General Duties

Follow all infection control, COSHH, and health and safety procedures. Respect residents' privacy, dignity, and personal belongings. Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and management. Attend training sessions and team meetings as required. Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the manager or supervisor to ensure the smooth running of the home.
Person Specification

Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or catering (preferably in a care or healthcare environment). Good understanding of hygiene and infection control. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable, trustworthy, and compassionate attitude. Good communication and time management skills.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.21-12.30 per hour

Expected hours: 28 per week
