What you'll be doing




As a General Assistant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our learning location. Your working days will be varied and active, with opportunities to contribute across multiple departments, including housekeeping, catering, education support, and site maintenance.


You'll be involved in:

Assisting with the preparation and service of meals, as well as clearing and cleaning the dining and kitchen areas. Supporting housekeeping operations by maintaining high standards of cleanliness across bedrooms, public spaces, and bathrooms. Preparing classrooms and learning spaces, helping to organise resources, and occasionally supporting educational groups on arrival or during field activities. Carrying out routine maintenance tasks and basic repairs, helping to keep both the indoor and outdoor areas of the centre in excellent condition.

No two days are the same, so adaptability, enthusiasm, and a team-focused attitude are essential. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, variety, and being part of a mission-driven team.

Where you'll be based



Field Studies Council Margam Discovery Centre is easily accessible, just off the M4 between Swansea and Cardiff. The centre is situated in the beautiful surroundings of Margam Park, an 850-acre country estate nestling on the narrow coastal plain and southern slopes of Mynydd Margam.


It is an award-winning state of the art, low carbon footprint building designed by The Welsh School of Architects that can accommodate up to 140 residents and has 5 classrooms.
