Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled general builder/bricklayer to join our construction team. We are a York based company that specialises in renovation and residential extensions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential house renovation and bricklaying, with the ability to work with various materials and tools. This role requires attention to detail, as you will be responsible for constructing and repairing structures using bricks, blocks, and other masonry products. A successful applicant will demonstrate excellent craftsmanship, be able to work from own initiative and a commitment to quality work.

Responsibilities

Lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry materials according to specifications and architectural plans/structural drawings. Measure and cut materials accurately using hand tools and power tools. Construct walls, arches, and other structures while adhering to safety standards. Perform repairs on existing masonry structures as needed. Collaborate with carpenters, roofers, and other tradespeople on-site. Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly. Follow all health and safety regulations while working on-site.

Requirements

Proven general building and bricklaying is essential. Competent with structural work and demonstrate safe working practices. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools relevant to the trade. Ability to read technical drawings and plans accurately. Must be able to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods. Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work well within a team environment as well as independently when required. Must have own transport initially.

Pay: 25.00-28.00 per hour
