We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time General Catering Assistant to join The Mill Cafe - a welcoming destination where customers come to catch up with friends, enjoy time with little ones, or simply recharge after exploring our store.

The role:



As a Catering Assistant in our cafe, you'll support daily operations and deliver exceptional guest experiences!

Supported by the Cafe Manager, Supervisors, and an experienced catering team, you'll handle various tasks, including preparing display counters, aiding in simple food preparation, and maintaining food safety and cleanliness.

Adaptable and proactive, you'll seamlessly transition between tasks, ensuring a smooth service and positive customer experience. Your dedication to hygiene and standards will be crucial to our success.

About you!

You excel in customer interactions, bringing friendliness and positivity to a fast-paced environment. Passionate and proud of your work, you enjoy varied tasks and thrive as a team player, collaborating energetically with others and celebrating shared successes.

Having a basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene is essential, and previous customer service experience in a catering or retail environment is highly desirable.

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are crucial for effective interaction with customers and team members. The ability to work efficiently both as part of a team and under pressure ensures a smooth workflow in dynamic environments. Additionally, proficiency in numerical literacy is important for handling tasks that require attention to detail and accuracy.

Above all, you have natural people skills with the ability to deliver a memorable service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide excellent customer service, including taking orders, serving, and addressing enquiries Maintain a welcoming atmosphere and ensure cafe cleanliness Assist with simple food preparation, serving, and presentation. Handle transactions accurately, manage cash register, and balance cash drawers Monitor and restock inventory, rotate stock to minimize waste Adhere to hygiene standards, food safety regulations, and safety systems Collaborate with staff, support new team members, and communicate issues to the Supervisor Contribute to a positive work environment and uphold Sterling's brand integrity Share best practices and undertake additional duties as needed, promoting accountability and improvement
