Role Summary:

A general maintenance technician's job involves inspecting, maintaining and repairing buildings, equipment and systems like general plumbing, electrical and the heating and ventilation are safe, functional and well kept. Key duties include performing routine checks, fixing minor issues such as faulty locks or leaks, undertaking preventative maintenance, troubleshooting problems, keeping maintenance logs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key responsibilities:

Inspections and troubleshooting:

Regularly inspect the building, grounds, and equipment to identify potential issues or malfunctions, and troubleshoot problems to find solutions.

Repairs and Installation:

Perform minor repairs on systems like plumbing, electrical, heating, and cooling, as well as building components such as doors, windows, and floors.

Preventive Maintenance:

Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning to prevent wear and tear and ensure equipment and systems operate efficiently.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including tasks performed, materials used, and associated costs. To be responsible for Health and Safety checks such as weekly fire and water temperature checks.

Safety and Compliance:

Always follow all company policies and procedures, follow safety regulations and the Health and Safety at Work ACT and operate equipment safely to prevent/minimise accidents.

Coordination:

Co ordinate with other departments to schedule repairs and oversee contractors for more complex issues. Communicating with the home's suppliers.

Materials Management:

Monitor and maintain adequate stock of maintenance supplies and equipment.

Emergency Response:

Respond to and perform emergency maintenance and repair work as needed.

Typical Duties:

Fixing leaky taps, changing light bulbs or repairing broken locks Performing painting and decorating to maintain the appearance of the home. Conducting general cleaning duties Assisting with landscaping tasks, such as grass cutting and cleaning of debris Assembling or disassembling equipment as required/ moving beds/furniture as needed Maintaining and repairing carpentry elements such as building shelves or repairing furniture. Pay: 15.00-17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
