JOB TITLE: General Manager
LOCATION: Brighton
ROLE SUMMARY
As General Manager, you will be the face and leader of our pub. You'll be responsible for the overall performance - driving sales, ensuring outstanding guest experiences, managing a motivated team, and upholding the brand standards that define a premium establishment. Our gastro pub will be unique as it will not only serve exceptional seasonal dishes, and a curated selection of local ales and fine wines, but will also be a training site during the day for our young people with learning difficulties, 'Candidates', supported by the Training Mentors.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Business Performance
Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth service in both front and back of house
Develop and execute strategies to drive sales and profitability
Ensure full compliance with licensing laws, health & safety, and food hygiene standards
Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at all times.
Leadership & People Management
Recruit, train, and inspire a high-performing team
Conduct regular team meetings, training, and development plans
Foster a positive, inclusive, and professional working culture
Manage staff rotas, holiday schedules, and labour costs.
Customer Experience
Deliver exceptional guest service, exceeding expectations
Handle guest feedback effectively and resolve complaints gracefully
Ensure service standards and brand values are consistently met.
Stock, Supplier & Financial Management
Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
Monitor P&L, budgets, and KPIs with a focus on cost control and margin improvement
Maintain accurate records (e.g., cash handling, invoices, staff hours).

Maintain the health and safety of themselves, colleagues and candidates as well as the public and visitors to Team Domenica.
Prioritise the safeguarding of candidates by following the procedures and principles laid out in our policies and associated legislations.

EXPERIENCE
Essential
Proven experience as a General Manager in a premium pub, gastropub, or similar high-end hospitality venue
Excellent understanding of licensing, food safety, and health regulations
Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen (P&L, budgets, forecasting)
Passionate about food, drink, and creating memorable customer experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
Personal Licence holder (essential or willingness to obtain).
Level 2 or 3 Food Safety Certification (preferred)
First Aid at Work (preferred).

Exceptional organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
