The Crown is a staple in Bristol's nightlife scene, welcoming people from all walks of life, and a vital hub in the city's thriving music scene. We're now looking for a General Manager to take the reins and help us continue building something special.

What the Role Involves

As General Manager, you'll be the beating heart of The Crown - leading the team, delivering great service, and helping the venue continue to thrive as both a much-loved local and a standout spot on Bristol's music map.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Running day-to-day operations

: Overseeing the smooth running of bar service, kitchen coordination, and venue management across, this will be mainly late night shifts with some weekend daytime shifts.

Leading the team

: Supporting, training, and motivating a close-knit team of bar staff, floor staff, and supervisors to maintain high standards and a welcoming atmosphere.

Customer experience

: Being a visible and approachable presence on the floor, helping to foster a friendly, safe, and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.

Stock and supplier management

: Overseeing ordering, deliveries, stock rotation, and basic inventory control to keep things running efficiently behind the scenes.

Health & safety and compliance

: Ensuring all licensing, safety, and hygiene standards are upheld, and working with our door staff to support customer safety during busy nights.

Admin & communication

: Handling rota planning, weekly reporting, and day-to-day communication with ownership and the wider team.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who loves the buzz of a busy venue and takes pride in the details that make a place feel great.

Who We're Looking For

We're after someone who shares our passion for pubs, people, and music - someone who wants to be part of the scene, not just run the bar.

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience in hospitality leadership

: At least one year in a management or supervisory role in a pub, bar, venue, or similar - ideally with some experience running shifts solo.

Strong people skills

: Approachable, and able to build positive relationships with staff, customers, artists, and promoters alike.

A calm, can-do attitude

: Able to think on your feet, handle a busy shift with confidence.

A collaborative mindset

: Willing to get stuck in with all aspects of the venue, from pouring pints and shifting stock to closing the bar and liaising with performers.

An eye for detail

: You care about the little things that make a difference - clean lines, great lighting and warm welcomes.

A love of music and nightlife

: You don't need to be a scene veteran, but you should be excited to work in a place that hosts regular underground music events.

Ambition and curiosity

: We want someone who's eager to grow with us, contribute ideas, and take pride in building something meaningful.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 18.00-22.00 per hour
