Summary
MyActive Leek is on the brink of something exciting, a brand-new, state-of-the-art centre for leisure, health and wellbeing set to open its doors in 2026.We're looking for a General Manager who can lead from the front, bring our values to life, and help shape what this flagship site means for the Staffordshire Moorlands.
As General Manager, you'll be the heartbeat of the centre, responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment where everyone feels supported to move more, feel better, and live well. You'll lead by example, empowering your team to deliver exceptional customer experiences while keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently.
What you'll be doing
Provide strong, visible leadership for your team, motivating, supporting, and developing colleagues to be their best.
Ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient running of all centre operations.
Oversee health and safety, safeguarding, and compliance across all areas of the facility.
Drive participation, memberships, and income growth by connecting programmes to local community needs.
Lead on customer experience, making sure every visit feels positive, personal, and purposeful.
Deliver local marketing and engagement activity in partnership with the MyActive Marketing and Communications team.
Build and nurture relationships with local partners, schools, and health organisations to position MyActive Leek as a hub for community wellbeing.
Manage budgets, resources, and staff training to deliver value for money and continuous improvement.
About you
You'll be a confident, people-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You're equally at home on the gym floor as you are in a team meeting or with a spreadsheet. You bring:
Proven experience managing a leisure, fitness, or wellbeing facility.
Strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for developing others.
Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
A proactive approach to health and safety and operational excellence.
A customer-first mindset, with a drive to innovate and improve.
A collaborative spirit that fits perfectly with our 'One Team' culture.
A pool plant qualification, NPLQ, or health and safety management experience would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right person.
