The Role

As General Manager, you will take full responsibility for the performance, profitability, and daily operations of the Peterborough depot. You will manage all aspects of warehouse activity, from staff supervision to customer satisfaction, while maintaining a strong focus on financial performance and process improvement.

You will report directly to the Operations Manager and CEO

, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals and high-level objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Oversee all depot operations: receiving, stock control, order fulfillment, and logistics Implement efficient warehouse systems and ensure continuous service improvement Monitor KPIs and maintain operational excellence

Team Management

Lead and motivate warehouse supervisors, forklift drivers, and operational staff Set goals, provide coaching, and build a performance-driven culture Ensure staffing levels, training, and morale are optimised at all times

Financial Oversight

Manage depot budgets, revenue targets, and cost controls Use data to identify commercial opportunities and improve profitability Ensure financial goals are met or exceeded consistently

Customer Experience

Maintain high customer service standards across the depot Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally Drive strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and retention

Process & Compliance

Uphold all health & safety, legal, and operational compliance standards Oversee audits, inspections, and quality control checks Continuously improve warehouse procedures and reduce inefficiencies

Requirements

Proven experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, or Depot Manager in wholesale, logistics, or FMCG Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; able to lead diverse teams effectively Commercially astute, with strong budgeting, forecasting, and analytical skills A hands-on leader with a passion for continuous improvement Excellent knowledge of warehouse operations and compliance standards Fluent in English (additional languages such are a plus)
