+ Role Overview
We're looking for a commercially-minded, operationally-savvy leader who can take
ownership of day-to-day business management, financial control, and strategic delivery.
This role sits at the intersection of operations, finance, and strategy, ensuring the
company runs efficiently while delivering on its ambitious goals.
You'll be a trusted right hand to the Founders and play a key role in shaping the next
chapter of the business.
+ Key Responsibilities
Operations & Business Management
Oversee day-to-day business operations and implement scalable systems and
processes
Lead cross-functional alignment across teams and departments
Translate strategy into actionable plans and KPIs
Finance & Commercial
Own financial management: budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and reporting
Liaise with external accountants or finance partners
Analyse performance metrics and advise on commercial opportunities and risks
People & Culture
Lead hiring plans and team structure in collaboration with the founders
Help build a positive, performance-driven culture
Ensure compliance with HR and operational policies
Strategic Support
Act as a sounding board to the founders on commercial decisions and growth plans
Provide insight into scaling opportunities (funding, partnerships, expansion)WORKING
Working Conditions
Hours of work:
The hours of work for the position are 40 hours per week, working
Monday - Friday.
Annual Leave:
Full time employees are entitled to annual paid leave of 28 days
inclusive of public holidays. For part-time employees, annual leave
will be pro rata'd based on days worked.
Overtime expectations:
Occasionally, such as before important business events and
deadlines, we may need "all hands on deck" and we may ask you to
work additional hours.
Work environment:
Desk based, primarily from home.
Travel requirements:
Periodic (quarterly) travel to London for meetings. Some infrequent
international travel may be required to meet international partners.

Appointment will be made on a permanent basis. Appointment will
be subject to satisfactory completion of a three-month probationary
period.
+ Education and Experience
A Bachelors degree is required.
While not essential, an MBA or a master's degree in a related field would be a strong indicator of advanced business knowledge.
Proven Leadership Experience:
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a leadership or senior management role, with a demonstrable track record of successfully managing teams and business operations.
Operational Management:
Extensive experience in overseeing day-to-day business operations, including implementing and improving systems and processes to drive efficiency.
Financial Acumen:
Strong experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting. The candidate should be comfortable analyzing financial data to inform strategic decisions.
Strategic Planning:
Proven experience in translating high-level strategy into actionable plans with clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
People Management:
Experience in leading recruitment processes, structuring teams, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Strategic & Operational Leadership
Proven experience in a senior commercial, operational or general management role (e.g. COO, GM, CFO) of a company turning over more than $5m
Demonstrated ability to scale operations and build infrastructure in a growing SME or start-up
Demonstrable past experience achieving 100% yoy growth in revenues
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills - someone who thrives on turning chaos into clarity
Exposure to fundraising, investment, or board-level reporting
Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role (e.g., CFO, or Head of Finance)
Financial Management & Commercial Acumen
Strong financial literacy with experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting
Strong understanding of business finance and commercial strategy
Confident working with investors and supporting funding rounds
(while the CEO leads)
Ability to assess and mitigate financial and operational risks
Professional finance qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Manufacturing & Product Knowledge
Experience in product-based businesses, ideally involving physical products or hardware
Exposure to small-batch or custom manufacturing, supply chain logistics, or sustainable materials
Comfort working alongside a technical R&D team and contributing commercially to product roadmap planning
Genuine interest or lived experience in vanlife, camping, or off-grid living (bonus if they've used a composting toilet!)
Familiarity with the outdoor lifestyle community and what customers care about
Tools & Tech
Confidence using tools like Xero, Asana, Notion, or inventory management software
Comfortable working in cloud-based, remote-first environments
