Job Overview


Sir John Falstaff is a historic site, with a very rich history. Within the last year it has grown but further growth is needed - both food and beverage sales need to increase, along with other revenues, for example private event hire. As a part of this growth, we have created this brand-new position, which will be accountable to the landlord only and responsible for all staff. The successful candidate will need to have a strong background in leadership and customer service within the hospitality industry.

Live-in arrangements are available and can be discussed and considered as part of the recruitment process.

Duties



Operating Controls

- accountable for the effective daily operation of the business, adhering to company policies and procedures including operating standards, licensing laws, employment law and health and safety legislation, in accordance with all legal requirements. Follow all policies and procedures for cash handling and other monetary transactions. Diligently undertake stock taking checks and investigate any losses or anomalies.

Visible Leadership -

develop and maintain the company's reputation for excellence by maintaining high standards of personal conduct and behaviour and leading the team by example. Assess own performance and effectiveness and encourage feedback from the Landlord and Advisory Board on where improvements can be made. Undertake personal development activities and continuously benchmark personal achievement levels against that of competitors.

Service Standards and Continuous Improvement -

use initiative and your own skills and experience to ensure standards are maintained throughout, without the need for instruction or intervention from the Landlord. Be able to spot risks and issues and mitigate them at pace, ensuring you are always one step ahead. Build on standards, focussing on continuous improvement, and responding to sector best practise, staff feedback, customer feedback and your own observations.

Budget Management -

supporting in the design of budget plans and be responsible with purchasing, expenditure, finance and accounting within the business to achieve deadlines, profit forecasting and ensure all legal payments are made on time. Working within objectives and targets for beverage sales and profit margins. Negotiate the most competitive prices for food and sundry stock purchases.

Planning and Organisation -

plan ahead and manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are achieved on time, to the highest possible standard and efficiency. Plan and deliver effective promotional campaigns using local media as well as social media platforms to drive sales and attract new customers. Measure the success of all campaigns to evaluate the return on investment and learn lessons for improvements.

People Management -

ensure the effective recruitment, induction, and performance management of employees, minimising staff turnover by maintaining a motivated, productive and rewarded team. Develop the job-related skills of the team through regular and measured training activities. Take corrective action with team members where needed in accordance with all HR related policies and procedures.

Staff Engagement -

carry out briefings to clearly communicate individual and team objectives and provide regular, constructive feedback. Develop and maintain professional and positive working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and all external representatives and visitors.

Policies and Processes -

achieve a consistently high level of customer experience and satisfaction by following all relevant operating procedures. Ensure compliance with all employment, environmental, health & safety, hygiene, licensing, and other relevant policies and legislation without exception, and operate within the law at all times. Ensure the company's uniform and dress code policies are strictly adhered to.
