About the Role:


This role will oversee and lead one of our Regional distribution centres for Retail in Daresbury (WA7 1NT). You will be accountable for all aspects of retail operations at site to ensure maximum client and customer value in a highly time-sensitive and commercially focused environment.


It will ensure the commercial, profit, retention and contractual objectives are met and exceeded and importantly will help drive high standards across the site and the Screwfix network as a whole.


We are seeking a highly proactive, energetic and enthusiastic General Manager, who sees value in creating a positive on-site culture, nurtures and develops talent, whilst driving sustainable and positive operational change management.



How will you contribute?

oEnsure that a high-performance culture is developed and maintained across the site delivering operational excellence and continuously meeting performance and productivity targets.
oStrive to maintain and improve team morale through involved leadership, coaching and development.
oAccountable for the delivery of all contractual KPI's and budget requirements across all sites.
oEnsure that a best-in-class HSE performance is achieved within the sites and that a culture of safety in everything we do is embedded.
oBuild robust working relationships with all key stakeholders to ensure first class operational performance which results in long term partnerships.
oDeliver a culture of efficiency and continuous improvement by utilising the most appropriate methodology on a consistent basis
oDrive synergies applicable across multiple sites, linking in with Retail counterparts to drive innovation and best practice.
oDeliver and support the development of the contracts business strategy.
oSet challenging budget targets, own and drive the budget for the delivery .

What will you bring?



oProven experience in leading all aspects of a large site in a customer led operation.
oProven track record in delivering innovative performance improvements and operational excellence.
oDemonstrable exemplary customer relationship management skills with the flexibility in style and approach.
oExcellent commercial acumen - understands dynamics of 'open/ closed book' contracts and develops the team to ensure we deliver the best value to our customer.
oWell-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to influence at all levels. Able to manage conflict and tough conversations.
oSucceeds in building effective stakeholder relationships with the ability to influence management team's thinking to deliver high performance through a culture of accountability and ownership.
oAgile approach to strategy and planning with a proven experience of adapting operational plans to changing customer requirements whilst also achieving a commercial benefit.
oUnderstands how to use IT / technology to drive performance.
oAble to manage Equality and Diversity issues and creates a culture of respect and "Dignity at Work" for all.
oUnderstands team dynamics and composition and applies knowledge to develop high performing teams.
oHigh level of self-awareness (including via psychometric profiling) and takes accountability for own development. Seeks and provides feedback on a regular basis.
oPersonal resilience, tenacity and motivated by achievement
oHighly numerate and excellent written skills.
oKnowledge of support services / contracts business model (including 3PL) highly desirable.
