The Role
We're seeking a highly skilled, self-sufficient, and motivated General Manager to oversee daily operations, lead a talented team, and ensure exceptional guest experiences. As the heartbeat of the restaurant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless service flow, team leadership, and business development.
This is a hands-on role where you'll balance organisation, leadership, and strategic thinking, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while driving long-term growth and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee and coordinate all front-of-house and back-of-house activities, ensuring smooth service, high efficiency, and a vibrant guest experience.
Guest Experience & Hospitality
- Maintain the highest standards of customer service, ensuring that every guest feels welcome and leaves with a memorable experience.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and develop a passionate, engaged, and high-performing team that embodies our brand values.
Financial & Cost Control
- Manage budgets, control costs, and drive profitability while ensuring top-tier quality and service.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, licensing laws, and hygiene standards.
Collaboration & Business Growth
- Work closely with the sales & marketing team, front of house leaders, kitchen leadership, and bar staff to develop menus, optimize service flow, streamline operations and drive business forward.
Marketing & Sales
- Support marketing initiatives, events, and promotions to enhance Smoke & Rye's reputation, attract new customers and boost sales to meet targets.
Key Attributes
We need a charismatic and results-driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-driven environment. The ideal candidate must be a strategic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
Proven experience as a General Manager, Assistant Manager, or Senior FOH Manager in a high-volume, guest-driven restaurant.
Strong leadership, team management, and motivational skills, with a passion for developing people.
A guest-first mindset, ensuring every interaction aligns with our hospitality-driven ethos.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, capable of managing service, staff, and strategy simultaneously.
Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and cost control.
A collaborative, solution-focused approach, working closely with kitchen and front of house teams to drive efficiency and innovation.
A deep appreciation for American BBQ, whiskey, and Southern hospitality, with an understanding of how to deliver an authentic experience.
