General Manager Trainee / Agm

Manchester, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We are Yard & Coop an independent restaurant company in Manchester Northern Quarter. We specialise in creating the most amazing buttermilk fried chicken for our guests and delivering an exceptional experience within our restaurants.

We are a true hospitality business; striving to make our customers, team members and indeed everyone who walks through our door lifelong fans by creating real relationships. We do this by curating the right teams of people and providing them with training and support to be the best they can be!

Carl and I started the business 10 years ago over a poker table and work closely with our teams to bring creativity and innovation to our restaurants, we value the ideas and input of our people - nothing is off the cards!!

Our restaurant in Northern Quarter has a cult following after years of serving up the best buttermilk fried chicken with the biggest smile. We are a busy 300 cover restaurant with a 50plus team of people open 7 days a week - so our operation needs to be slick at all times.

We are currently looking for the next in line for the General Managers job, you could call it an Assistant General Manager role but this really is a search for a General Manager in training - you could be an AGM or Deputy Manager elsewhere and be ready for a step up or an existing General Manager that needs some training and experience under your belt to take on a bigger restaurant and challenge.

Experience at this level is essential. This is not a role that will be trained in over years -we will be agreeing targets and training schedules after trial period to get you into role once ready.

The right candidate will work directly with the current General Manager to build a team and set standards that can be carried forward with confidence and a full understanding of what is required.

The expectation is that you will;

Have managed stocks (both wet and dry) to a decent level and be able to create and report results, understand GP's and how to influence them
Have built rotas and managed labour forecasting with a proven record of achieving targets
Understand a basic P&L and deal with BOH admin to facilitate checks and reporting
Be passionate and creative about food and drinks - keeping up to date with trends and eager to experience new things
Trained teams to a high level
Able to motivate and manage teams, creating a positive work environment that people want to be part of
Be able to run a slick dinner service with little support, managing both front and back of house seamlessly whilst giving guests 100%
It's a given that you will be self motivated, have integrity both personally and professionally, be super organised and standards driven. However we also love personality and a love for people and our customers... you must have a passion to make every person who walks through our door have the best time and go above and beyond to create lasting experiences and memories - its what stands us out from the crowd and has allowed us to continue as one of the busiest restaurants in Manchester.

If you like what you hear, I would love to meet you. Please send me your CV and I will be in touch personally.
