The independently-owned and run UK business provides airline representation, interline e-ticketing, BSP support, fare filing, payment solutions, and other distribution services. Based in London Heathrow, with a success driven team of around 25 staff, APG UK & Ireland operates sales, reservations, ticketing, and administrative functions. Our mission includes driving yield maximisation, sustainable revenue growth, and long-term brand development for our valued client airlines.

Role Summary


Due to continued growth, APG UK & Ireland is seeking a General Manager to support the directors. The successful candidate will lead the UK operations to shape strategy and execution across sales, marketing, administration, and customer service. Working with the Managing Director you will share responsibility for the growth and operational excellence of the UK and Ireland offices.

Key Responsibilities



Strategic Leadership & Business Development Assist to lead, mentor, and develop the team across the UK & Ireland Develop and execute the UK & Ireland strategic business plan in alignment with APG's global objectives. Identify growth opportunities: win new airline clients, expand service offerings, and deepen relationships with existing clients. Lead product development initiatives (e.g., interline e-ticketing, NDC, digital distribution) tailored to the UK and Ireland markets. Collaborate with APG's global product, commercial, and executive teams to align UK and Ireland strategy with the broader network. Work in partnership with the directors and finance teams to deliver revenue growth, cost control, and profitability. Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and investment planning for UK and Ireland operations. Oversee UK and Ireland operations across all functions: sales, reservations, ticketing, interline, administration. Implement operational best practices to improve efficiency, customer service, and process quality. Drive productivity through technology, automation, and continuous process improvement. Maintain and strengthen relationships with airline clients -- ensuring service delivery, growth, and long-term satisfaction. Assist negotiate and manage commercial contracts and representation agreements. Represent APG UK & Ireland at industry conferences, airline forums, and stakeholder events throughout the world. Oversee the growth of partnerships with travel trade, travel agents, and other distribution partners in the UK & Ireland. Engage with external stakeholders: airlines, industry bodies, regulators, and partners. Oversee the management of staff in the two APG offices

Experience



Proven senior leadership experience in the aviation / airline distribution / GSA / airline sales sector. Strong track record in growing a business unit. Experience managing sales teams, operations, and customer-facing functions. Familiarity with airline distribution systems (BSP, interline, fare filing) and modern distribution models (e.g., NDC) is highly valuable. Strategic thinker with successful execution experience in a multinational network. Leadership: ability to inspire, manage, and develop a high-performing team. Strategic planning and business development: identifying and capitalising on growth opportunities. Commercial acumen: understanding of airline economics, yield, pricing, and distribution. Relationship management: building strong partnerships with airlines, agents, trade bodies. Communication: excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to C-level and stakeholders. Resilience and adaptability: ability to navigate a fast-changing aviation environment.
