We are seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead our team and help shape the future of our business.
The Role
As General Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day running of the gastropub, ensuring excellent food and drink standards, efficient operations, and a positive guest experience. You will lead, coach, and support the team, manage financial performance, and help grow the business in line with our brand.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily operations across front and back of house.
Deliver exceptional guest experience and uphold high service standards.
Lead, train, and support staff; oversee rotas and labour management.
Maintain compliance with UK food safety, health & safety, and licensing law.
Work closely with the Head Chef to support menu direction and food quality.
Oversee beverage programme including cask ales, wines, spirits, and cocktails.
Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships.
Monitor financials including sales, margins, P&L, and forecasting.
Respond to guest feedback and manage online reputation.
Support marketing activity, community events, and seasonal promotions.
What We're Looking For
Proven hospitality management experience (pub, restaurant, or gastropub preferred).
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to drive high standards and inspire teams.
Financial awareness with experience in budgeting and cost control.
Knowledge of UK licensing, food safety, and health & safety regulation (e.g. HACCP).
Passion for hospitality, seasonal produce, and locally driven menus.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Desirable
Experience with cask ales, premium beer, and wine.
Personal Licence Holder (advantage; training can be provided).
Local community awareness and interest in building long-term relationships.
