General Manager

Gorgeous Nightclub

Location: Gorgeous Nightclub, School Street, Wolverhampton, WV1 4LF

Reports To: Head of Operations.

Position Overview

The General Manager (GM) of Gorgeous Nightclub is responsible for overseeing all daily operations, ensuring an exceptional guest experience, maintaining high standards of service, and achieving financial and operational goals. The GM leads and develops the management team, supervises staff, ensures compliance with all UK legal and safety regulations, and upholds the nightclub's premium brand and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management:

The GM oversees all day-to-day operations of the nightclub, including the bar, floor, VIP services, entertainment, and security. They ensure the venue is clean, safe, and fully operational at all times. Staff scheduling and shift assignments are managed to optimise performance, while inventory controls for beverages, supplies, and equipment are maintained. High-quality customer service is ensured and guest concerns are promptly resolved.

Staff Leadership and Development:

The GM recruits, hires, trains, and supervises all staff, including bartenders, servers, hosts, security, and support teams. They conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and support career development. Leading pre-shift meetings fosters a positive, motivated team culture. Managers and team leads are developed to maintain operational excellence.

Financial Management:

The GM monitors daily revenue, labour costs, and operational expenses. They prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, implementing cost-control measures without compromising service quality. Collaboration with the finance team ensures accurate weekly and monthly reporting.

Marketing and Promotions:

The GM works closely with marketing teams, promoters, and entertainment partners to drive footfall and revenue. They oversee event planning, themed nights, VIP promotions, and special bookings, ensuring the nightclub maintains a strong social media and brand presence.

Customer and VIP Relations:

The GM builds and maintains relationships with VIP guests, promoters, and partners. They ensure premium experiences for VIP tables, bottle service, and private events. High-level customer concerns are addressed efficiently to maintain exceptional service standards.

Compliance and Safety:

The GM ensures compliance with UK alcohol licensing laws, health regulations, fire codes, and security protocols. They oversee ID verification and age compliance and develop policies for guest safety, crowd control, and emergency situations.

Facility and Vendor Management:

The GM coordinates with vendors, suppliers, and contractors for equipment, maintenance, and repairs. They ensure sound, lighting, and technical equipment meet operational standards and maintain the overall upkeep of the venue, ensuring all systems function efficiently.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates must have 3-5+ years of management experience in nightlife, hospitality, or entertainment venue operations. Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills are essential, along with proven experience in budget management, scheduling, and staff development. In-depth knowledge of UK alcohol laws, safety protocols, and nightlife trends is required. The role requires the ability to work late nights, weekends, and bank holidays. Candidates must hold a valid UK Personal Licence required for authorising alcohol sales and a valid Driving Licence. The ideal candidate is organised, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
