We are seeking a reliable and organised GP Administrator to support the day-to-day administrative operations of the practice. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth running of practice systems, supporting clinical and non-clinical staff, and providing a high standard of service to patients. The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Practice Manager and wider team, but will not hold line management responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support
Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Deputy Practice Manager and wider practice team
Support the smooth running of daily practice operations
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including letters, emails, and reports
Maintain accurate patient and practice records in line with data protection requirements
Appointments & Communication
Assist with patient communications, including recalls, invitations, and general enquiries
Liaise with external organisations such as hospitals, health boards, and community services
Compliance & Governance
Support compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and health & safety requirements
Assist with maintaining practice policies, procedures, and audits
Support data collection and reporting for contractual and quality requirements
Patient & Team Support
Respond to patient and staff queries in a professional and timely manner
Assist with resolving administrative issues, escalating appropriately where required
Work collaboratively with the reception, clinical, and management teams
Experience & Skills
Essential
Previous administrative experience, ideally within a healthcare or GP practice setting
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good IT skills, including confidence using clinical or administrative systems
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
Experience working in a GP surgery or healthcare environment
Familiarity with NHS systems, policies, or primary care processes
Knowledge of confidentiality, data protection, and information governance

Summary
