We are seeking to welcome a self-employed, experienced male (a similar age to the client) or female care worker and general assistant to join our team.
Our client is a kind-hearted, gentle man, aged 35 years. He has a range of congenital, physical challenges, for which he receives 24/7 support from his care team, with input from the wider medical and occupational community. Within the realms of the client's capabilities, with gentle and sensitive reasoning, the care team continues to promote and encourage independent living.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities, providing support to the client. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills in a client home environment. Spanning a variety of tasks, you will work to meet the needs of the client and the good standards of cleanliness in his home.
Responsibilities
Assisting with daily routines, which includes personal care
Preparation and serving of meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met
Preparing the client for outdoor activity (mobility scooter or walker), (lunches)
Driving the client, to activities, swimming (1x weekly) and arranged events
Weekly food shopping at supermarket and visit local shops for other items
Occasionally, when the need arises, to make some meals for freezing
Adhering to all safety regulations & knowledge available for driving the vehicle
Completing all administrative tasks such as updating daily logs as required
Maintaining a clean and tidy home, notifying (via log) when repairs or replacements are needed
Laundry duties - clothes, towels and bedding, drying and returning to closets
Providing companionship and engaging in activities to promote wellbeing
Communicating effectively with parents, colleagues, and external professionals to ensure seamless appropriate care delivery
Requirements
Ability to understand and follow care plans accurately
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication
Basic skills for updating records and managing documentation
Strong communication skills to interact empathetically with client and team
Ability to work shifts offered with the flexibility to cover other shifts when needed, including weekends & waking nights if required.
Carer to obtain Public liability insurance, to allow you to drive the client's vehicle
Valid clean, UK driving licence, and willingness to drive when required
Probationary Period
The post is subject to a 3 month probationary period, which will commence with a series of shadow shifts with staff. This will allow time for all parties and the client to become comfortable with the new care support involved and a allow for a workable relationship to establish, while maintaining the stability and routine that the client has currently.
