The Federation of Snape Community & Thornton Watlass CE Primary Schools consists of two small rural schools which lie 3 miles apart, nestled between Bedale and Masham. We operate as one school across two sites with the youngest children (Nursery, Reception and KS1) taught at Snape and older children (KS2) taught at Thornton Watlass. We are surrounded by the countryside and have great access to outdoor learning and opportunities for curriculum enrichment.

We are looking for a SEN General Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 child on a 1:1 basis, with neurodivergence needs. The post is a maternity cover; it is expected to be fixed term until 17/07/2026 with the chance of an additional term until 18/12/2026 should maternity leave be extended. In addition, we require the successful candidate to support as a club assistant for our after-school club on a Tuesday.
Experience of working in a school is essential. Experience of SEND and/or working 1:1, ideally Autism, would be an advantage. However, more importantly, applicants should have a positive attitude towards teaching and learning and be fully prepared to complete any training required to effectively support the child.

Experience of supporting children with SEND, including SEMH.
