Voted 4.9 stars on Glassdoor, this growing independent consultancy is looking for a GIS consultant to join their team to work on some exciting projects of varying scales, ranging from small-scale single dwellings to large multi-million-pound projects covering over 5,000 acres across sectors such as Public Realm, Historical sites, Renewable Energy, Road, Rail, Infrastructure, Hospitality, Education, Health, and Sports.

As a GIS Consultant, you will be responsible for managing digital mapping data and conducting analysis to address geographical inquiries. Your main focus will be creating maps for clients based on analytical data.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality maps to accompany technical reports from various disciplines within the organization, including landscape architecture, heritage, archaeology, and planning designations and information.
  • Download and maintain an organized database containing all GIS data.
  • Convert data into different formats to meet the requirements of consultants and clients.
  • Provide GIS support to internal and external clients.
  • Assist with geospatial aspects of large-scale NSIP/EIA projects, including solar farms.
  • Manage, process, analyze, and present geospatial datasets.
  • Generate high-quality figures and maps for reports.
  • Support the Principal GIS Consultant in tasks such as multi-criteria analyses, producing baseline LVA figures (including ZTVs), and constraints mapping.
Requirements:

Essential:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a GIS-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years\' experience working with ESRI\'s ArcGIS suite of software, including ArcGIS Pro.
  • Familiarity with GIS open-source software, particularly QGIS.
  • Experience in figure/map production and a strong understanding of cartographic design techniques.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interpret requirements from non-GIS specialists.
Desirable:
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary consultancy environment.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Online.
  • Knowledge of automating processes through ArcGIS Model Builder and/or Python scripts.
  • Familiarity with design/drawing software such as AutoCAD/REVIT.
