Role Purpose:

Responsible for the implementation and operation of the Non-Financial Risk framework for the CFIBC business globally (including Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Strategic Equity Finance (SEF), Leveraged & Acquisition Finance (LAF), Corporate Risk Solutions (CRS), Advisory & Investment Banking Coverage (including M&A) (AIBC) and the Strategic Solutions Group (SSG).

Support Product Risk governance and the smooth and efficient application of HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s Operational Risk Framework through a product lens. Work with senior stakeholders /Risk Owners to ensure that the businesses operate within the Group\xe2\x80\x99s risk appetite, adhering to both external regulatory and internal control requirements. Further ensure that top and emerging risks are identified and managed on a timely (and where possible proactive) basis. The role requires the role holder to work in a high-growth business within a complex and ever-changing regulatory environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that CFIBC Risk Owners have understanding of the Non-Financial Risk / Operational Risk framework as it applies to their business line; responsible for developing and driving regional and global consistency in the Risk & Control Assessments for the CFIBC business and maintaining necessary controls and operating effective Continuous Monitoring Plans
  • Identify and proactively manage current and emerging risks related to changes to services/products, processes and systems delivered to or impacting CFIBC
  • Leading the adoption of globally consistent policies, procedures and practices
  • Acting as primary point of contact with 2nd and 3rd line colleagues, and in particular maintaining overall responsibility for managing Audit and Compliance Assurance reviews; partner with and challenge 2nd and 3rd line risk colleagues
  • Responsible for assessing the evolving regulatory landscape and ensuring that business policies and procedure address both external regulatory and internal control requirements
  • Ensuring that all CFIBC products adhere to global Product Governance requirements, processes and procedures
  • Ensure adequate training and communication provided to all lines of business to reinforce and embed key requirements
  • Ensure timely identification and escalation of incidents (eg, Ops Loss/regulatory breaches) and ensuring that relevant Read-Across is performed to strengthen controls/prevent re-occurrence.
  • Ensure that messaging from the broader Wholesale NFR team (including Fraud, Business Financial Crime Risk, Information Control and Conduct) is adequately communicated to the CFIBC business and conversely, ensuring that CFIBC views are factored in the design and implementation of new initiatives
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Knowledge and experience of working within at least one (preferably more) of the CFIBC products (DCM, ECM, SEF, LAF, CRS, AIBC, SSG)
  • Knowledge of control framework, specifically a strong understanding of HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s Non-Financial Risk Oversight (NFRO) framework
  • Strong working knowledge of HSBC Group structures, business models and operating processes
  • Good working knowledge of the external regulatory environment (hot topics, emerging threats) Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Skilled decision-maker, making considered and timely decisions, particularly when under pressure
  • Ability to juggle a fast-changing work environment and have a strong capability to prioritise; ability to manage unexpected \xe2\x80\x9ccurveballs\xe2\x80\x9d alongside the day-to-day job requirements
The base location for this role will be 8 Canada Square, London with hybrid working
