Our client is an impact-driven provider of environmental services with 25 years of experience in carbon markets and emissions reduction projects around the world. They are committed to developing high-quality carbon projects based on the principles of environmental integrity, transparency and good practices that contribute not only to climate change mitigation but also to sustainable and inclusive development.

With a rapidly growing project portfolio, our client offers experience and tailored services in the origination, development and financing of Nature-based solutions (NbS) projects that can access the voluntary and compliance carbon markets via REDD , Restoration, Regenerative & Low-Carbon Agriculture, Energy and Blue Carbon mechanisms.

This is a senior position, reporting to the executive board.

The role

This is a key role focussed on building a new business area from new market opportunities which have high potential for carbon credits, such as Biochar, Construction materials and sustainable transport. In addition, it will focus on exploring potential revenue streams from more experimental engineered solutions for carbon capture, such as direct air capture, carbon capture and storage and sustainable aviation.

Main Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Board, give advice on biochar, DACS, BECS, Hydrogen, and emerging decarbonisation technologies.
• Develop and implement strategies to identify opportunities and potential technology-related sustainability initiatives and insights.
• Lead the identification and execution of business opportunities for the company involving TBS, including advisory services, trading and project development.
• Identify potential partners and establish and manage business partnership that can help achieve our goals.
• Conduct research and stay up to date on the latest trends and developments.

About you

• Leadership experience, dealing with board level stakeholders. Good communication and reporting skills to report internally and externally.
• Have the technical capacity to have a deep understanding of the main different types of emerging decarbonization technologies ("technology-based solutions", or TBS)
• Ambitious and keen to play an integral part in a growing company with a reputable brand.
• Technical or scientific academic background.
• Significant experience working in carbon reduction, carbon offsets, carbon finance, trading or decarbonisation strategy.
• Experience in project origination
• Strong technical understanding with experience in dev new technologies in the climate space
• Strong commercial acumen, with the experience in generating commercial opportunities and partnerships to advise on or develop projects.
