HSBC has put the transition to net-zero at the centre of its corporate strategy and is building out its Climate Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Global Sustainability to achieve this. The role of the CoE is to work with front-line bankers around the world providing expert input to support HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s climate strategy and re-wire and align the bank to net-zero.

These roles are at the cutting edge of applying global finance to the climate challenge and offer an exciting and rare opportunity to join a high performing function in a senior position that is all about impact. You will be provided access to our senior leaders across the business, the ability to help shape the future strategy of HSBC and guide and support our clients on their transition journeys.

Global Head, Sustainable Land Use & Supply Chain

You will shape HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s support for the climate transition globally, leveraging the bank\xe2\x80\x99s capital and networks to shape and accelerate the shift to a net zero future. You will collaborate with bankers and regional leadership to support HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s agriculture and food-supply chain clients and engage them on their transition plans, seeking out opportunities for the bank to finance their transition. Your professional network and industry reputation and public profile and track record of thought leadership will enable you to support the bank\xe2\x80\x99s external engagement with regulators, central banks and governments, NGOs and the markets.

You will possess excellent knowledge of land degradation, commercial agriculture, biomass and energy crops, food processing and supply chains, water stress and soil health are a must..

Requirements

To be successful within this position you will also have:

  • Deep expertise on climate change and land-use including low-carbon technologies, decarbonisation pathways, regulatory and policy levers, carbon budgets, science-based targets, climate analytics, and both transition and physical climate risk.
  • Strong technical understanding of land degradation, commercial agriculture, biomass and energy crops, food processing and supply chains, water stress and soil health and the technologies, processes and practices that can mitigate emissions.
  • Experience in leadership roles, ideally in an agriculture or land-use industry, NGO, or relevant research and consulting field, with a track record of outstanding achievements.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment and managing multiple stakeholders across large organizations.
  • Experience in agriculture would be preferable
