Job summary




To support the delivery of UKRI's international ambitions by managing the operational provision of global mobility services. This role will ensure the effective movement of people across borders--through assignments, secondments, and relocations--while maintaining compliance and promoting best practice. The postholder will work closely with internal stakeholders and external providers to embed global mobility as a key enabler of UKRI's research excellence, talent development, and international collaboration.

Job description



Accountabilities:



Deliver global mobility services that align with UKRI's International Strategic Framework and People & Culture Strategy. Ensure compliance with UK and international immigration, tax, and employment legislation. Manage operational relationships with external service providers and act as day-to-day liaison for outsourced mobility services. Provide expert guidance to employees, managers, and HR Business Partners on mobility-related matters. Support the Head of Global Mobility in building internal capability and developing scalable mobility infrastructure. Monitor and report on mobility activity, risks, and trends to inform strategic decision-making Champion equity, inclusion, and wellbeing in all mobility programmes.

Your responsibilities:



Implement policies, processes, and guidance for international assignments, relocations, and cross-border working. Coordinate visa applications, relocation logistics, tax advice, and cultural integration support. Maintain mobility documentation and ensure legal templates are fit for purpose in collaboration with Legal and IP teams. Support the development of self-service tools and resources for managers and employees. Liaise with Finance, Legal, Procurement, and Risk to ensure seamless delivery of mobility services. Track and report on compliance with Home Office guidance, HMRC regulations, and GDPR Assist in preparing business cases and costings for overseas assignments, ensuring packages are equitable and aligned with UKRI values. Contribute to the development of internal training and communications to raise awareness of mobility processes. Represent the Global Mobility function in operational forums and working groups across UKRI.

Experience delivering global mobility services in a complex, multi-national organisation. (S&I) Strong working knowledge of immigration, tax, and employment law across key jurisdictions(S&I) Proven ability to manage external vendors and monitor service-level agreements. (S&I) Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills (S&I) Ability to interpret policy and apply it pragmatically to individual cases.(I) Strong organisational skills and attention to detail (S&I) Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in service delivery (I) Understanding of cultural nuances and global working practices (I) Experience in the public sector, higher education, or research-intensive environments. (S) Experience with mobility software or digital case management tools. (I)
