Global Sourcing - Head of ULM Sales



Full Time Permanent Role

The Role



The Head of ULM Sales will be responsible for overseeing the sales and development of this portfolio within the UK. This key leadership role will manage a diverse team, drive commercial strategy, and contribute to Uniphar's growth through innovative product and service offerings, strong manufacturer relationships, and market expansion. This individual will be pivotal in shaping the strategic direction and commercial success of the business in UK Secondary and Private Care markets.


Key Responsibilities:



Leadership of UK ULM Sales Function:



Lead the Sales Team providing direction and strategic guidance to the teams. Achievement of financial targets and short / medium / long term strategic objectives for the department. Ensure alignment between Sales and Procurement teams to optimize commercial opportunities and performance. Champion our Quality Culture of on-time and right first time.

Commercial Strategy Development:



Develop and implement strategies to address key product offering and service areas including tenders, shortages, and unlicensed medicines. Drive growth by identifying new opportunities and enhancing the product portfolio. Continuously develop our digital/ecommerce platforms to match and/or exceed competitor capabilities within regulatory constraints. Ensure the commercial strategy is aligned with business goals and market dynamics.

Manufacturer & Supplier Relationships & Market Positioning:



Build and maintain strong relationships with key manufacturers to enhance Uniphar's market reputation. Develop and manage a relevant portfolio of licensed and unlicensed products to meet market demands. Exploit opportunities in secondary care and private care channels, maximizing market share. Identify and create bespoke distribution opportunities with manufacturers to further grow the business. Strengthen supplier partnerships to support agile sourcing strategies, particularly for shortages and hard-to-source medicines.

Product Licensing:



Identify potential product investment opportunities to move the UK business up the value chain. Propose opportunities for in line with market needs and strategic objectives. Collaborate with colleagues across the group to realise these opportunities.

Collaboration Across Uniphar Business:



Work closely with colleagues to drive synergies between bespoke distribution, the product portfolio, product licensing opportunities and our pharma services capabilities. Collaborate with Global Sourcing colleagues to leverage market intelligence and enhance competitive positioning.

Team Development:



Lead and mentor the Sales team, fostering a high-performance culture. Develop and implement talent management strategies to enhance team capability and drive business success

Governance, Compliance & Risk Management:



Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant regulatory, legal, and ethical standards across all markets. Proactively manage customer and stock holding risks. Champion a culture of compliance and continuous improvement across the team.

Key Skills & Experience



Proven Experience in a senior commercial role, ideally within pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or related sectors. Leadership and Team Management: Demonstrable experience in managing high-performing teams, particularly in sales and procurement functions. Strong strategic thinking with a focus on market expansion, product licensing, and business growth. In-depth knowledge of the UK pharmaceutical market, including familiarity with licensed and unlicensed medicines. Experience in manufacturer relationship management and creating bespoke distribution models. Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and global colleagues. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
