Full-time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed term for 6 months



Play a key role in ensuring our public golf course is safe for all users to access and enjoy.



Leicester is covered by a wealth of soft and hard open spaces that includes a range of parks, gardens, country parks, nature areas,150,000 individual trees and 107 hectares of woodlands, canal, and riverside, 150 play and outdoor gym facilities, sports facilities, highways, and housing green spaces totalling 1,250 hectares. It is widely recognised that quality open spaces contribute to residents' quality of life and improve physical and mental health wellbeing, with parks in Leicester attracting around 9m visitors per annum.



Join our small team of specialist Greenkeepers to work under the guidance of the Local Area Manager, and keep our golf course clean, attractive and for visitors. You'll have the opportunity to work in our friendly and supportive team. You'll be provided with the appropriate uniform and equipment to carry out your duties effectively and safely.



This is a full-time, fixed term position working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday 07.30am - 15.30pm (for six months due to backfilling secondment). You'll be required to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota system. You'll be based at Humberstone Heights Golf Course.



We will consider this vacancy on a secondment basis for Leicester City Council employees. If you wish to apply for this post on a secondment basis then please make your line manager aware before applying.



What you'll be doing





You'll operate and maintain hand and mechanical specialist equipment as well as prepare and apply chemicals such as herbicides, fungicides, insecticides etc. By maintaining horticultural features as well as hard landscape features including buildings, you'll be ensuring our green infrastructure are free of barriers to access and safe to use. You'll provide advice and support to customers using our facilities, ensuring a high quality service is provided at all times.



What you'll need





You'll have substantial previous experience ideally in greenkeeping or groundsmanship. With experience of using specialist equipment, you'll have experience in applying pesticides. You'll have a good understanding of COSHH regulations and knowledge of health & safety issues (including HAWSA) relating to the area of work. Physically fit, you'll be able to carry out manual handling and lifting heavy equipment and materials.



A full driving licence is essential as you'll be required to carry out driving duties.
