We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented and proactive
Goods Out Manager
to join our secure and growing business based in Harrogate. As the Goods Out Manager, you will oversee and manage the day-to-day activity of the Goods Out team (four staff) who ensure that every order is packed and shipped accurately and efficiently, playing a crucial role in the final stage of our order fulfilment process. You will be working alongside the Goods In and Technical Operations Manager and a Warehouse based team of almost 20 staff. Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties:
Manages the Goods Out order board and work plan, delegating tasks and balancing team workloads. Collaborates with Sales, Goods In, and Technical teams to prioritise shipments and ensure timely dispatch of prepared goods.
Oversees the daily operations of the Goods Out team, managing the end-to-end dispatch process from picking to delivery, with a focus on accuracy, quality control, and timeliness.
Drives the day-to-day running of Goods Out, identifying and implementing process improvements to support continuous efficiency gains.
Oversees company van deliveries and collections, ensuring schedules are met and goods are handled appropriately.
Team Leadership:
Manages team performance, including appraisals, probation reviews, and addressing conduct or performance issues with HR support.
Oversees absence management and leave planning.
Works with HR to recruit, onboard, and retain the right talent for the Goods Out team
Holds team meetings for daily workload planning to ensure required resources are available
Ensures a full and effective handover to the Assistant Goods Out Manager during planned absences
Team Development and Training:
Motivates the team to perform to a high standard by identifying top performers and offering support where needed.
Responsible for the Goods Out Training programme, including the creation, review, and maintenance of SOPs and training materials.
Monitors team training progress in collaboration with HR, identifying skills gaps and development needs to support individual and team growth.
Export of Controlled Goods:
Ensures compliance with, and understanding of, Export Control procedures in line with the company's Export License obligations and legal requirements when exporting controlled Goods from the UK
Manages the Controlled Goods audit
Shipping and Logistics:
Deals with courier related issues; claiming refunds and clearing shipments that are stuck or delayed with couriers
Manages the BV/EU shipping process
Builds strong working relationships with courier providers to review performance, negotiate rates, and identify more cost-effective or higher-quality service options
Supplier and Contract Management:
Monitors and manages external contracts and suppliers including couriers (as above) and packaging providers
Builds relationships with packaging suppliers and is responsible for:
Replenishing new packaging and internal stock
Negotiating packaging pricing
Identifying new bespoke or general-purpose packaging suppliers
Compliance:
Understands and adheres to company's ISO, Controlled Goods and Health and Safety obligations
Identifies issues/errors and reports on these, providing corrective actions and details
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a Warehouse leadership/supervisor role
An interest in Enterprise IT would be desirable
Experience in shipping, export control and dealing with customs issues
Confident in dealing with, and chasing, couriers

Salary and Benefits
Salary of up to 35k for 40 hours per week (9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday) - Equivalent of up to 32,813 for 37.5 hours per week
25 days' holiday + 1 day per year served, up to 28 days
