About the Role
We are now looking to recruit a Governance Manager who will lead the delivery of Company Secretarial and governance services across the organisation. The post holder will act as the first point of contact for the Board, Non-Executive Directors, Executive Team, and Senior Leadership Team, serving as a trusted professional advisor.
This is a home-based role with the flexibility to attend our offices for meetings as and when required. Candidates will need to have a full UK driving licence and access to your own car.
Responsibilties
Governance
Develop and manage governance processes within the Onward Group to ensure that all activities performed comply with relevant policies, business standards and regulatory requirements. Provide support for the Board and wider business acting as first contact for non-executive directors, executive and senior leadership team and the wider business. Acting as a trusted professional advisor with respect to governance practices, emerging legislation, minuting Board and Committee meetings, advising on reporting and acting as a point of contact for colleagues.
Company Secretarial
Develop and manage delivery of company secretarial processes across the organisation, including the execution of documents, signing and sealing registers, maintaining statutory records, key registers and undertaking required filings with regulatory bodies such as the Regulator of Social Housing, Homes and Communities Agency, Companies House and the Charities Commission.
Delivering the Service
Identify, build and develop an extensive network of key stakeholders, internal and external, to keep abreast of best practice and benchmarking and review processes on a regular basis to ensure Onward maintains a culture of excellence.
About You
You'll be a confident communicator with a strong understanding of governance and company secretarial practices. You'll bring a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organisation.
Skills, Knowledge and experience required
Essential:
Proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service.
In-depth understanding of governance frameworks within housing associations or similarly regulated environments.
Skilled in building relationships and influencing stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to convert strategic objectives into actionable operational plans and deliver successful outcomes.
Experienced in leading, managing, and developing teams to achieve high performance.
Competent in using Microsoft Office applications
Qualification
Essential:
Educated to A level standard or equivalent qualification/experience
Desirable:
A degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, management, finance, law)
