We are currently looking for a Governance Manager to join the organisation in a full time, permanent position (37.5 hours per week).

Here at Mencap we understand that some of our office based colleagues can do their role from a range of locations, which is why we like to be flexible. We only ask for this role that you can commit to one full day in our London Office per week, plus attend Board and Committee Meetings.

What will you do?


Support our Board of Trustees (we currently have 10) and our Chief Executive in setting the direction of our organisation. Use your effective communication skills and interpersonal skills to build relationships and liase with varying internal colleagues in the organisation, including the Board and Executive teams. Support the Company Secretary with their compliance. Ensure the organisation complies with governing documents and regulatory requirements. Ensure Board and Committee meetings are coordinated and delivered to a high standard. Develop, implement and maintain Mencap's governance frameworks. Manage on specific projects. Support in the development of Mencap Trustees.

What will you bring?


Experience and expertise in governance. Practical knowledge of charity and/or corporate governance best practice. Understanding governance requirements of a charity with trading subsidiaries and affiliated partners. Evidence of strong influencing skills at executive and board levels. Organisation and administration of corporate events and conferences.
