About the Role




The Government Affairs Advisor will support Lockheed Martin's engagement with the UK Government and Parliament -- shaping policy, strengthening stakeholder relationships and supporting key business priorities. The role will be based from our London office and will be responsible for the following:

Monitor, analyse, support and conduct briefings on public policy and political issues relevant to the company. Support and develop key relationships with Government Departments and Parliament. Enhance corporate awareness and understanding of UK customers, and their priorities. Support the development of positions on public policy issues, working directly with the Government and through think tanks and trade associations, to shape both the business environment and UK defence and security capability requirements. Play a key role in developing and executing government relations campaigns in support of business opportunities. Support the delivery of senior stakeholder engagements, including inward and outward visits. Work closely with the Head of Government Affairs to maximise political customer intimacy to facilitate understanding and influence thereby enhancing brand and reputation and increasing P/win on major captures.

Required skills, qualifications and experience




Excellent inter-personal, presentational, written and verbal communication skills Excellent established understanding and relationships within Government at highest levels in particular across MOD, Home Office, DBT, Treasury, Cabinet Office, and associated communities. Exceptional communicator with the ability to clearly prepare, influence and communicate messages that motivate and inspire action at all levels. A background or understanding of Politics and/or Political Environments (e.g. Foreign Office and Home Office) is highly desirable. Good time management and prioritisation skills Strong critical thinking and analytical skills Ability to produce accurate outputs in short timeframes Ability to rapidly understand complex issues, including technical Holds current, or is able to attain, UK national security clearance to SC level
