Job Summary:



Arthur Medical Centre seeks to appoint an individual to join our Reception/Admin team in our busy, forward thinking Practice.

Arthur Medical Centre is a values-led, family-oriented medical practice situated in Horsley Woodhouse - a semi-rural locality, on the edge of the Peak District. We have an innovative and friendly team who are committed to supporting each other in delivering excellent patient care.

Horsley Woodhouse is situated north of Derby with easy access from the cities of Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield.

Duties:



This post is a one year fixed term for Maternity Cover



Receive, assist and direct patients in assessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, consistent and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

To provide efficient, helpful, informative and supportive reception services to patients and members of the Practice.

To action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection in line with practice protocol.

Job Responsibilities:



Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.

Explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments with the appropriate clinician.

Using your own judgement and communication skills ensure that patients who need an urgent consultation are seen in line with practice protocol.

Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are followed consistently.

Receive and make telephone calls as required. Direct calls and take messages ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery using the correct method of communication.

Check and prepare the Doctors visiting list ensuring careful recording of relevant details.

Print and prepare forms for samples sent to the lab

Advise patients of relevant charges for private (none General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.

Enter patient information on computer systems as required.

Prepare clinical rooms for surgeries and ensure adequate supplies of consumables are available.

Covering colleague's holiday and sick cover as required.

Administration Duties:



Process incoming and outgoing mail as directed.

Accurately record data and actions taken in patient record where appropriate on in accordance with practice protocol.

Complete other daily/weekly and Monthly core tasks to support the smooth running of the reception/repeats areas.

Run patient recall systems

Support Chronic Disease Management in searches, recalls, and audits, ensuring that recall letters / documents are produced and sent out on time

Liaise with lead staff to ensure cervical smear recalls are in place as necessary

Assist with administration of Pathology / Mail

Assist doctors/managers with administration of enhanced services and projects

Summarise patient notes accurately and efficiently, in liaison with doctors, and in accordance with the timescale outlined in the GMS2 Contract, ensuring clinical information is added to the SystmOne computer system accurately and efficiently

Administer the electronic GP2GP system ensuring patients notes are processed and summarised in a timely manner

Review and extract required data from clinical correspondence and inputting the data and Read Codes into the patient's medical record on the SystmOne Ensure, as far as possible, that all data entered complies with our GMS Contract

Advise clinicians and staff in the correct use of Read Codes, shortcuts and GMS guidelines and amend entries as appropriate

Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Practice Management Team or the Partners.

Premises:



Open up premises at the start of the day when first to arrive and make all necessary preparations to receive patients.

When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is totally secured in line with practice protocol.

The post holder will also:

o Observe and comply with the Practice Policy on confidentiality.

o Assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined the Practice Health and Safety Policy.

o Support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues.

o Participate in any mandatory or otherwise training programme or meetings implemented by the Practice as part of this employment.

o Strive to maintain quality within the Practice.

o Recognise the importance of effective and appropriate communication within the team.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST



General Practice experience would be ideal, however the successful applicant will receive full training

Knowledge and experience of SystmOne would be a distinct advantage

An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality

Excellent communication skills

Flexibility with regard to working hours, which would be between 7.45am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday with some Saturday work required.

Subject to satisfactory DBS check

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 17 per week
