The role of GP Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Heads of School and Primary Care Dean in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the objectives of NHS England Workforce Training and Education (WT&E).
The GP Training Programme Director is professionally accountable to the Head of School and managerially accountable to the GP Patch Associate Dean. The GP Training Programme Director will focus on the improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future. The role is evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.
To support the Primary Care Dean and Postgraduate Dean, GP Training Programme Directors will work across the spectrum of health and, where relevant, social care, within the context of a team, so that the provision of education reflects changing service models. This will deliver an integrated workforce comprising individuals from a spectrum of professional and other backgrounds.
Main duties of the job
You should be a self-motivated individual, able to respond quickly to changing priorities and workloads. Strong leadership skills are essential.
You should have good knowledge of the GP curriculum and associated mandatory requirements and be able to positively influence the expansion of GP specialty training. We expect applicants to have extensive knowledge of General Practice and be a current GP registered with the GMC.
Candidates should be experienced in healthcare education management - which may be achieved through a formal university course or equivalent experience.
You will be a representative of the Primary Care Department and will be expected to be a positive advocate for NHS England at all times. You will promote leadership that inspires, motivates, and empowers all staff, whilst demonstrating the values of the NHS.
