As a Graduate Account Executive, your primary focus will be to support the growth of sales by nurturing existing SME accounts and contributing to the development of new business opportunities with larger customers, including national retailers, DIY chains, and non-manufacturing suppliers.
You will assist in identifying potential leads, preparing proposals, and supporting the delivery of pitches and tenders across all customer types. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded graduate to gain hands-on experience in B2B sales, account management, and strategic business development.
Reporting to the Head of UK Sales, you'll be a proactive self-starter who's eager to learn, contribute ideas, and grow into a trusted partner for our customers. An interest in sales, customer engagement, and building long-term business relationships is essential. While you won't be expected to bring an existing network, a willingness to build one and engage professionally with a range of stakeholders is key.
Main Job Responsibilities:
Sales Support & Business Development
- Assist in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, supporting the conversion of leads into profitable sales. Contribute to achieving revenue targets by maintaining and developing relationships with existing accounts and identifying upselling opportunities.
Customer & Account Coordination
- Act as a key point of contact for new business enquiries, ensuring timely and professional responses via phone and email. Work closely with internal teams to help resolve customer queries efficiently and deliver excellent service.
Quotation Preparation & Proposals
- Support the creation of accurate and commercially competitive quotations based on customer requirements. Learn to tailor proposals that align with both customer needs and company objectives.
Project Involvement
- Participate in the end-to-end coordination of sales projects, supporting senior team members in maintaining momentum through key stages and ensuring stakeholders are kept informed.
Strategic Sales Support
- Provide administrative and research support to the Head of UK Sales and Business Development team. Help with strategic planning efforts and market research to support the business's growth.
CRM & Sales Administration
- Accurately update and maintain client and sales activity records in the CRM system. Support the team by helping to compile pipeline data and generate reports for internal analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with various internal teams across the business. This includes coordinating with the Production Planning team to schedule customer orders, partnering with Formulation Chemists to develop new product development (NPD) solutions, liaising with the Technical Team to ensure regulatory compliance and machine compatibility, and collaborating on packaging specifications.
Sales Documentation & Process Ownership
- Take responsibility for key administrative elements of the sales process, including pricing work, preparing customer quotations, building product specifications, and completing other supporting documentation. Attention to detail and accuracy in handling sales-related paperwork is essential.
End-to-End Process Engagement
- Sales is involved in every stage of the process, from concept through to delivery. A genuine interest in understanding the manufacturing process end-to-end and a willingness to engage with people across all business functions is critical for success in this role.
Key Skills/Competencies:
Ambition & Career Focus
- We're looking for a graduate with the drive to build a long-term career in sales. You'll bring energy, motivation, and a proactive mindset to everything you do.
Quick Learner & Initiative Taker
- You pick things up quickly the first time they're explained, act on your own initiative, and thrive in fast-paced environments. You don't wait to be told what to do--you get things done.
Customer-Facing Experience
- Ideally, you'll have some experience in face-to-face or phone-based customer roles (e.g., retail, hospitality, call centre), and the confidence to engage professionally with customers from day one.
Customer Service Excellence
- Providing high-quality service is second nature to you. You take pride in getting things right the first time and follow through on commitments to both customers and colleagues.
