Cundall's Air Quality team aims to create better environments, whether that is by improving occupant exposure or ensuring our solutions have positive effects on the external and internal environments. The team has experience in all aspects of air quality covering the whole project lifecycle of a building, from pre-planning and detailed design to post-planning.

Our integrated air quality services allow us to establish current and future ambient (outdoor) air quality impacts and exposure, specify and evaluate appropriate mitigation controls, and measure and manage indoor air quality to meet health and wellbeing requirements.

Joining our Air Quality team you will works closely with other technical teams as part of multi-disciplinary projects, helping Cundall substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from air pollution by our target of 2030.

The Role You'll Play:

This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Air Quality Consultant to join the specialist Air Quality team to work on the design of some of the most exciting construction projects in the UK and worldwide.

Under the guidance of our team of experts, this wide-ranging role will offer you the opportunity to develop your expertise in data analysis, air quality modelling, site-based monitoring and design specifications. As your understanding and technical skills develop, you will liaise directly with colleagues, clients and environmental regulators to acquire, collate and analyse relevant data and produce high-quality reports, including air quality chapters of Environmental Statements.

You will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop, and with accredited professional development programmes from the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM), we will support you towards Chartership (CEnv or CSci).
The Skills You'll Bring:
On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree. Accredited with or on course to achieve a BEng/MEng degree level (or equivalent) in Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences or another relevant discipline, you have a keen interest in developing expertise and a rewarding career in this discipline, and crucially - have a passion for excellence in air quality design in the built environment. Possessing a desire for personal and professional development, you'll have the proven ability to work effectively as part of a team. Digital engineering is a big focus at Cundall, so ideally, you'll have an understanding of Parametric Modelling Techniques (Grasshopper or Dynamo), or at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, C#, VB). An understanding of Engineering Optimisation Techniques, the principles of structured programming and basic knowledge in the application of Machine Learning would also be desirable. You are organised and methodical in your approach to managing your tasks and priorities, you strive to meet deadlines and have a close appreciation of the commercial factors which affect design solutions. Collaborative in nature, you'll be able to empathise with your clients' needs and utilise excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders. You're used to using your initiative to overcome challenges and have a positive, can-do attitude.
