Job Description

The following vacancies have arisen for fixed-term roles for Graduate Assistants to work within the School of Creative and Performing Arts. We are looking for enthusiastic Hope graduates from across the creative subjects to support a range of activities within the studios/workshops and with media/theatre wardrobe.

Graduate Assistants 2023-2024, School of Creative and Performing Arts

Please note: Only 2023 Hope graduates from the School of Creative and Performing Arts are eligible to apply.

Those appointed will fulfil a range of duties to support and assist the staff and students. They will bring experience of working in a creative discipline, with hands on skills and experience, and an awareness of appropriate health and safety standards for this environment.

Technical, organisational and communication skills are also required. The ability to work as a team player is an important part of this post, as well as the ability to work independently. The post holder will be required to work flexible hours.

The available positions are as follows:

Position One: Film and Visual Culture Technical Support and Media Hatch Assistant - Ref: GA23-01

Hours will range between 15 to 35 hours per week, allocated throughout the academic year where needed.

Start Date: 2nd October 2023 to 31st July 2024

Contracted Number of Hours to be completed during this period: 1102 hours

Positions Two, Three and Four

The following positions will be offered subject to requirement. It will be either:

Position 2 at two days per week i.e. 1 x 14 hours per week (one role)

or

Positions 3 & 4 at one day per week each i.e. 2 x 7 hours per week (two separate roles of 7 hours each)

Position Two: School Arts Graduate Assistant - Ref: GA23-02

This role will require two days of work per week over 28 weeks in the academic year. These working days will vary between 5 - 7 hours per day, increasing to 7 hours a day during end of year assessment and degree show periods.

Start Date: 2nd October 2023 to 31st July 2024

Contracted Number of Hours \xe2\x80\x93 399 hours

Positions Three and Four of identical contracts: School Arts Graduate Assistant (x2) - Ref: GA23-03/04

This role will require one day of work per week over 28 weeks in the academic year. The working day will be 5 hours.

This will increase to 3 days per week at 5 hours per day during end of year assessment and degree show periods.

Start Date: 2nd October 2023 to 31st July 2024

Contracted Number of Hours per position \xe2\x80\x93 199 hours each.
