Bell Munro Consulting is an independent civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Manchester. We deliver practical, high quality engineering across a broad range of projects including residential, commercial, industrial, refurbishment and specialist structures.
We are a hands on team with strong repeat clients. We invest in people, with graduate work reviewed by senior engineers as part of our quality management control.
The role
We are recruiting a Graduate Civil / Structural Engineer to join our Manchester team. This is a genuine engineering role with real project exposure from the outset, supported by experienced engineers.
You will assist with design and delivery work across multiple projects and gain experience from early feasibility and planning through to detailed design and site support. Responsibilities will grow in line with your capability and confidence.
What you will be doing
Assisting with structural and civil engineering design, calculations and technical outputs
Producing sketches and coordinating information for drawings and models
Working with senior engineers to develop practical, buildable solutions
Attending site visits and meetings
Responding to site queries with support from senior staff
Preparing reports, technical notes and project documentation
Coordinating with architects, contractors and other consultants as part of the wider design team
What we are looking for
A degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (or close to completion)
A genuine interest in how buildings and structures work, and how they are built
Good numerical and analytical skills and a clear approach to problem solving
Strong written and verbal communication
A willingness to learn, take feedback well, and take ownership of your development
Useful, but not essential: familiarity with UK design standards and software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla and common calculation tools. Attitude and potential matter most.
What you can expect from us
Early involvement in real engineering work
Checking, feedback and mentoring from senior engineers
Clear development and progression as your responsibility increases
Practical support towards chartership (IStructE or ICE), including relevant experience and structured guidance
Exposure to a wide variety of projects rather than being limited to one narrow sector
A professional, friendly working environment with flexible working hours and regular social events
Salary and benefits
Competitive salary and benefits, reviewed as your capability and responsibility grow.
How to apply
Apply via Indeed with your CV and a short covering letter explaining why you are interested in the role and what you are looking for in your first position. Please include your expected graduation date and confirmation of your right to work in the UK.
We review applications as they are received.
