To gain experience and develop in-depth knowledge and skills in all areas of civil and structural engineering associated with high voltage substation engineering (from 11kV to 400kV), through undertaking engineering analysis and design on power transmission and distribution projects.
Work under the guidance of senior engineers to produce detailed high voltage substation design packages, compliant to required client and national technical standards (ENA/BS/IEC/IEEE), including preparing calculations and technical/equipment specification documentation.
Participate in FEED stage projects, including production of technical reports and presentations.
Support the preparation of technical solutions for project proposals.
Work independently or as part of a project team and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Support 'Safety by Design' approach on all projects, at all times.
Maintain compliance to CDM Regulations and all other legal and regulatory requirements associated with the nature of cable and electrical system design.
Understand wider industry best practices and client technical standards/procedures for construction, operations & maintenance, and decommissioning, in order to drive safety, constructability, and operability throughout whole asset lifecycles.
Maintain project compliance to Burns & McDonnell's UK Integrated Management System.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Civil/Structural engineering discipline, from an accredited institution is required
Membership of a relevant professional Engineering Institution (ICE, IStructE, etc.) is preferred
IT literate, with good knowledge of using Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD) for engineering design.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply diversified knowledge of principles and practices to a range of assignments.
Able to manage tasks on multiple projects and conflicting deadlines.
Able to work autonomously and/or as part of a project team.
Pro-active in building knowledge and understanding of the civil engineering profession and electricity transmission & distribution industry.
Engaged in the engineering community and how we can drive success for our clients.
Ability to maintain focus on technical work to meet deadlines.
Attention to detail in production of design drawings and technical documentation.
