The Role:



Join the Energy Division's digital transformation journey as a Data Analyst, where you'll contribute to the design, enhancement, and delivery of data engineering and analysis projects. Your work will directly support smarter, data-driven decisions across both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy--helping to boost efficiency, reduce risk, and unlock value from a wide range of data sources.



This fixed term role is part of a forward-thinking digital team at the heart of the Energy Division's innovation and efficiency strategy. You'll gain hands-on experience working with real-world datasets from complex environments such as offshore wind farms, subsea engineering, and energy infrastructure--offering a unique opportunity to apply and grow your data skills in a dynamic industrial setting.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:




Support the development of robust, scalable data pipelines to enable the secure ingestion, transformation and storage of data from operational and digital systems across the Energy Division. Deliver high-quality data analysis and insights to inform business decision-making, optimise operational performance, and identify opportunities for digital innovation within the Renewables and Energy Services business units. Contribute to the integrity and quality of datasets by applying data validation, profiling and cleansing methods, ensuring outputs are accurate, reliable, and aligned with business requirements. Assist in the visualisation and presentation of data outputs in formats accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, enhancing the understanding and communication of key findings. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including digital, engineering, operational and IT colleagues, to ensure that data solutions are integrated with existing systems and aligned with user needs. Demonstrate continuous learning and proactive engagement with digital tools, data technologies, and emerging trends relevant to the energy sector, applying new knowledge to improve project outcomes



Skills & Experience:




Demonstrates practical understanding of data analysis and engineering principles Hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and technologies

Technical Skills:




Programming & Analysis:

Proficient in Python for data wrangling and analysis Experience with libraries such as Pandas, Polars, NumPy, and Matplotlib

Databases:

Working knowledge of SQL for querying relational databases Awareness of data modelling concepts

Data Visualisation:

Exposure to tools like Power BI or Tableau Ability to create clear, accessible dashboards and visual insights

Data Engineering:

Understanding of data pipeline development using tools such as: Apache Airflow dbt Native cloud workflows

Cloud Platforms:

Basic experience or conceptual understanding of cloud services (Azure, AWS) Familiarity with storage and compute tools like S3, BigQuery, or Azure Data Lake

Data Handling:

Comfortable working with both structured and unstructured datasets Able to ingest data from APIs, CSV/Excel files, and other common formats Collaboration & Version Control: Awareness of version control tools like Git Experience with collaborative platforms such as: Jupyter Notebooks VS Code GitHub
