A N Wallis & Co Ltd are a leading UK-based Designer, Manufacturer and Supplier of Lightning Protection and Power Earthing Products. Established in 1946, Wallis has grown steadily throughout our core markets of the UK, Middle East and South East Asia. We are in a phase of worldwide growth with an annual revenue in excess of 38m.
As part of this growth, we are looking for a talented, newly qualified Electrical Engineering Graduate to join the Company's Technical Services team in the Summer of 2025. This team designs earth electrode and lightning protection systems for clients worldwide in industries such as Electrical Transmission and Distribution, Renewable Generation, Petrochemical, Nuclear etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
Produce high-quality, accurate Design Reports.
Prepare computer-generated drawings using AutoCAD and CDEGS packages
Complete site surveys and measured drawings following site visits.
Submit documentation to other teams within the Company
Prepare presentation materials and reports using Microsoft Office packages.
Abide by appropriate Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality procedures and precautions, particularly the CDM regulations.
Maintain compliance with Company and National Policies & Procedures.
To help maintain the Company's ISO accreditations.
Gain knowledge of Lightning & Surge Protection Systems
Training & development
Depending on your qualifications when starting the role, we would ask you to develop your knowledge of power earthing systems through in-house and external bespoke training courses.
Complete sufficient training to hold a CSCS card relevant to the position.
Register to become a member of the IET (Institution of Engineering & Technology)
Attain via the IET a minimum of IEng status.
Attend and pass courses specific to the role.
Gain a recognised AutoCAD qualification.
Act as a mentor to more junior and less experienced members of the Team.
Skills, interests and qualities
As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will need:
A Full UK driving license
A strong ability in maths, science and IT
Excellent problem-solving skills
The ability to communicate with staff at all levels
The ability to read engineering drawings and circuit diagrams
A willingness to keep up to date with new developments
Good team working skills
A strong understanding of electrical health and safety issues.
