Our Engineers and CAD team work with the latest technology to deliver engineering solutions to clients across the globe.
Purpose:
To learn, assist and support our engineering design teams within the new cabling division. To become part of the engineering design team and focus on utilising new skills to deliver various stages of a project lifecycle, including optioneering, feasibility, front end engineering, detailed design and construction.
Role Delivery
Assist in the delivery of detailed technical documentation to industry standards for the benefit of the customer.
To support and undertake first principal design calculations.
To learn to use industry standard software to model engineering solutions and develop new underground cable routes and modifications.
Support with the design of insulation, earthing, ground resistivity, conductor material selection, catenary sag and tension, MVA and thermal ratings, short circuit requirements, EMF and corona
Be responsible for your own development through shadowing and re-creating underground cable design and construction solutions in line with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
Apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems.
Focus on developing industry knowledge, terminology, design and construction principals.
Become knowledgeable and clear on the application of British, European and internationally recognised standards and specifications.
Undertake on-site testing and analysis of field data.
Role Competencies

Communicate consistently and effectively.
Be aware of wider project requirements and communicate your progress.
Follow and apply checking and approval procedures to ensure that all work is safe, compliant and delivered to the required quality standard.
Understand project and engineering risks.
Keep good records and be able to report accurately as and when required.
Qualifications
Degree qualified to Bachelors' or Masters' level (BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc or other international equivalent).
Experience
Having undertaken the use of some engineering software during academic studies.
Relevant work experience or an industry placement within an engineering design, manufacturing or construction environment would be an advantage.
