Job Description

The Graduate Electronic Engineer will work closely with senior design and project engineers, contributing to both team-based and individual design tasks. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electronic product development, from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities



Conduct feasibility studies for new technical innovations. Research emerging techniques and technologies to enhance the company's product line. Design analogue and digital electronic circuits and devices. Produce engineering drawings using CAD and electronic design software. Design printed circuit board (PCB) layouts for surface-mount (SM) and through-hole (TH) technologies. Develop production test equipment, test software, and supporting documentation. Specify components, materials, and methods, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors as needed. Build and evaluate prototypes, including testing and analysis of performance results. Estimate material, construction, and labour costs, and contribute to project scheduling. Coordinate technicians and craftspeople during product development when required. Ensure compliance with current electrical and construction safety regulations. Provide production support, overseeing inspection, testing, and maintenance programmes. Perform electronic fault-finding and analysis to improve product reliability. Attend meetings, write technical reports, and deliver presentations to managers and clients.

Essential Requirements:



Bachelor's degree (2:1 Honours or above) in Electronic Engineering. Strong knowledge of electronic design principles applied to product development. Demonstrated interest in analogue design and sensor interfacing, with some exposure to digital systems. Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools. Hands-on prototyping skills, including soldering and circuit board assembly. Proficient in testing and debugging hardware against design specifications and schematics. Ability to document designs and present findings effectively in design reviews. Understanding of component limitations and design mitigation techniques. Experience operating laboratory test equipment. Must have the right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available).

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of embedded software or firmware development in C. Understanding of electrical design concepts including three-phase systems, transformers, and safety devices. Experience with amplifier or switch-mode power-supply design. Familiarity with circuit simulation tools. Experience preparing technical specifications and requirements. Exposure to Azure DevOps or other issue/bug tracking systems.
